Although there have been some studies on the promotion of reading for rural children in China, they tend to be theoretical and party-political in their stylistic paradigm and textual content. This paper is neither a theoretical output nor a party-political discussion, but a case study based on a real-life scenario of living with children in the countryside. At the same time, the paper also elaborates to varying degrees on what we have seen, heard and thought during this empirical research journey. In addition, the paper also discusses, to varying degrees, the real-life situations faced by rural children in China, and the social and governance problems that have emerged in the field of reading promotion for rural children. It is hoped that this paper can provide an objective reference to the factual scenarios for people in the field, and if it can provide different perspectives for the healthy development of the field of reading promotion for rural children in China in the future, it will also be the research value of this paper.
